Re: Alpha of one texture applied to another?

Thanks for both the replies, folks. You both got the idea perfectly. I didn't realise you could send two textures to a shader! I've sent plenty of other variables as externs in the past, but for some reason I thought doing that with textures was a nono. As ever, lovely to find out that I've still to...

Alpha of one texture applied to another?

Hi folks, Long time Love2d user here. I'm making an old-school RPG and I'm using two textures to show the world 'map' screen (not the main display). 1) Texture 1 stores data such as the values of various tiles in the 'r' channel, and flags tiles you've seen in the 'g' channel. 2) Texture 2 stores a ...

Re: Why faking 3D nowadays?

Why? Because every time someone tries something that isn't 'the normal/right way' to do things, there's a chance that they'll get something unique and interesting out of it. As soon as you sit down with a 3D engine it starts subtly, dangerously forcing you to do things the way *it* wants things done...

Re: Scoping issues in Lua while tidying code

Thanks so much for the clarification. It's super obvious, so can't believe I didn't think of that, considering how much lua code I've looked at!

As for 'module' being a reserved word: ahahahahaha... I'd forgotten that. Luckily that was just a demo piece of code for here, not my actual project.

Scoping issues in Lua while tidying code

Hi folks, I'm in the midst of a new Löve project and trying to use fewer globals this time around. :-) As such, I've made my modules something along the lines of this: local module = {} local a = 0 local function doThing() print("Hello") a = 5 end module.a = a module.doThing = doThing return module ...

Re: push - a resolution-handling library

Ulydev, thanks for a neat lib. :awesome: I see, it is unfinished yet :3 Anyway it has saved a lot of my time. I had a bug that the push shifts my images either horizontally or vertically after the switch to the full screen mode and back. But this thread has helped me to solve the problem. Wou...

Making the game? Yes. Getting it onto PS4/XBox/Steam? Not so easy.

Re: Avoiding OOP

I'm not asking about a perceived shortcoming of Lua, but about ways to break certain OO habits given Lua's flexibility. The answer? "Don't be so dogmatic". :)
