Re: Help for a tug of war game.

Code: Select all

if x == -10 then
This will only be true if x is exactly -10. Depending on how you're manipulating it, X might never be exactly -10. What you should do is something like this

Code: Select all

if x <= -10 then
This checks if x is lower or equal to -10.

Re: Generating Game Data from .txt files

There are ways to do what you describe. But you'd be better off just using a tile map editor like tiled. Tiled can export to .lua files so it's not hard to load them into your game. Plus there's a library called "sti" that can handle it for you.

Re: Big Tiled Terrain

You can get away with having a pretty large table as long as you don't iterate over the whole thing every frame.

I use a technique in this that only iterates over the part of the map that's visible to the camera.

Re: Premultiplied alpha

Oh. I didn't realise that setBlendMode had a 2nd argument. You'd think if you need premultiplied alpha to use the multiply blend mode it would default to that.
Or the error would indicate that it needs a 2nd argument.

Premultiplied alpha

I'm trying to draw a canvas with the "multiply" blend mode but it throws an error. Error data/class/light.lua:41: The 'multiply' blend mode must be used with premultiplied alpha. Traceback [C]: in function 'setBlendMode' data/class/light.lua:41: in function 'draw' data/state/game.lua:131: in functio...

Re: Need ideeas for a game!

I wasn't sure either. But it seems like a vague description of a game so I approved it.
