Re: Tiny Places

I feel uncertain what to write today ... I sure would like to write about big plans and a glorious future for the project. But it becomes harder and harder to motivate myself to work more on it. Sure there are some things which are missing, but on the other hand I feel kinda satisfied with what is t...

Re: Tiny Places

Many years I had been wondering how to make cyclic animations of smoke and such with my tools. Just recently found a way. It's pretty (w)hacky, but it allows me to do things like these: https://opengameart.org/sites/default/files/portal_7_preview.gif https://opengameart.org/sites/default/files/porta...

Re: So after these troubled times... How's behaving Löve?

As the title implies, do you believe, folks, LOVE is prepared to survive in this epoch and age, when almost nobody wants to code, only watching TV? I think there are still enough who want to code. On opengameart.org there recently was a thread about game making frameworks, and many suggested love2d...

Re: Tiny Places

Damnit ... finally found out how to make cyclic smoke and cloud animation with my tools (took some years ...) just to find out that I have a bad desync of creature positions between client and server in my project. I kill a creature and the death animation plays quite a bit away. It definitely plays...

Re: Build Love with Ruby instead of Lua

Good luck! While it certainly is possible to create all the library bindings for Ruby which Love2d offers for Lua, I don't understand the motivation except that someone likes Ruby more than Lua? You can have something like classes in Lua if you want to. "Ruby has classes" is not a very strong argume...

Re: Tiny Places

Made it ... but now I need some sleep. Many details were lost due to the small size and video compression, sadly.

Re: having a difficult time learning love

Compared to some other approaches Love2d indeed is easy, but it still requires you to learn programming. I've met quite some people who told me that they just can't wrap their head around this, and programming is not for them. Well I guess it really is this way. Different people have different talen...

Re: Tiny Places

@randomnovice Thanks! @Germanunkol Thanks also! And yes ... in my last attempt to make a multiplayer game it was even different if the server was running in the local net or in a different (sub)net. Never really figured why, even if I found a solution eventually. Java tried to cache stuff and did it...

Re: Center image and resize to actual size

I wonder too, how many are using virtual resolutions and struggle with the intricate details that come with it. Retina displays?

Re: Tiny Places

Progress is now notably slowing down. I've been moving hard coded data and values to data files for easier management and started to work on a new "desert" map type. I think I might borrow some ideas from my former "Jewelhunt" RPG project, and make the player hunt for just these jewels again. Just w...
