Re: Issue with loading levels (read for more info)

You can't *save* to a file inside a .love file. there's got to be some way, it can get the textures fine using love.graphics.newImage(), so it is possible, I just need to figure out how newImage, like any other constructor reads data; that is indeed possible. the fact that it can access parts of a ...

Re: [SOLVED] Is it possible to have a config file next to executable?

Especially that about permissions. As far as I'm aware permissions are only usually denied in mobile and web platforms, which I don't make anything for (so far, at least). Depends on the platform. Windows does have the option for "restricted" accounts too. Apps are NOT supposed to save data in the ...

Re: Öscillofun

Nice looking :) That looks like a spectrogram! IMO spectrograms look sooo much nicer when the magnitude at each pixel is represented by a palette colour, preferably ranging from black through cold then warm colours, peaking at bright yellow or white e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzFit0nldf4 ...

Re: Öscillofun

thread ressurection warning seriously i would really love to make a visualizer, how do you get this data into Love 2D? 0. Stop resurrecting dead threads, and open a new one :P 1. Create SoundData (Either empty or from a music file) There, now the data is there, and you can access it with :getSample...

Re: I can't figure out this lua error ("= expected") - possibly middleclass?

Thank you so much, I re-made the file and it works now :D The file must have gotten corrupted but the corruption didn't show up in notepad++ or even notepad somehow. I am currently using Notepad++ as my editor. What program do you use? He uses either Atom, micro, or both, as he said. Also, most cod...

Re: Prevent freezing while working with large files?

I still don't really get the issue to be honest; reading in from disk/ssd into ram line by line will always be slow as heck (doing it byte-by-byte is worse), just load it in all at once, or use a large enough buffer, like in the megabytes range; updating your progress bar from 0 to 100% in one step ...

Re: Could really use some help in Lua, have hit a wall and can't move forward.

Defining the local elapsedTime inside love.update itself is asking for the variable to be reset every frame; move that out of the function. Also, to be more clear, whatever image or even sprite sheet one specific animation might use doesn't necessitate them to have separate x and y positions; logica...

Re: 11.1 app randomly crashes when looping an OGG file

The lack of a click may only mean that the static version (which is guaranteed to always just store all samplepoints with a given sampling rate) can loop more seamlessly than ogg or mp3 files could, since at least the latter stores data not exactly in that way, so it might not be able to accomplish ...

Re: access to fonts directory

As I said, LÖVE is designed to encourage cross-platform compatibility, so these things are out of the scope of what it is designed to do. Still, you can do what you want, but it's not easy. You need to mount the folder using PhysFS via FFI. I believe zorg is working on a library to make that easier...

Re: 11.1 app randomly crashes when looping an OGG file

You can try to see if that narrows it down to a decoder issue, or something else; you are looping it with just setting the loop properity on the source object, right? Or are you doing more advanced shenanigans? :3
