Re: Need help, want to make explosion sounds

Thanks. I have audacity, and I had some success with recording and postprocessing sounds, but in case of explosions I was out of luck so far. I must admit though, that I spend 95% of my time on programming and graphics, so experience in sound is really small. I had hoped that I can draw from other p...

Re: A Question About Love2d and Performance

Lua is considered to be among the faster ones of interpreted languages. Much of what you call in Love2d is implemented in C though, so most "system" calls have the speed of compiled C (or C++, but that isn't much of a difference) Furthermore Love2d uses libraries like OpenGl and can benefit from har...

Re: love-DPBR - Deferred Physically Based Rendering library

Looks totally voodoo and magic to me o.O

Edit: Please take this as a compliment. I'm very impressed and have no idea how this can be done.

Need help, want to make explosion sounds

I'm currently playing a game that has quite some cool explosion sounds. That made me want to make some of my own. But I have no good idea how to start. Record something and edit the recording? What would be good sounds to start with? Or work with envelopes and noise and try to synthesise the sound? ...

Re: Tiny Places

I wrote some code to shoot projectiles. This actually goes over the net and through the server, but I'm not happy with the amount of messages being sent. The projectile graphics and light effects are placeholders to see if my idea how to display such light effects works, before I start to work on re...

Re: Tiny Places

I started to work on code to handle creatures. It seems I'll have to handle creature AI all on server side, and send a lot of control commands to the client to make the creatures move and act. Overall there will be two types of maps. Places where players can meet and chat, and places to solve quests...

Re: Tiny Places

I feel my motivation dropping ... but I made two new map backgrounds and tweaked the UI a little. Wasteland ground: tiny_places-003-wasteland.jpg Rough grass: tiny_places-003-rough_grass.jpg I published the wasteland and grass textures on opengameart.org: https://opengameart.org/content/wasteland-ba...

Re: Tilemap scroll laggy (but not always)

VSync depends on the refresh rate of the screen. 60Hz is a frequent number, but 50 and 70 are too, and I think modern screens offer up 200. So, no, vsync doesn't cap at 60 FPS, it depends on the screen and the screen settings.

Re: Module "push" not found.

Here is a description of what "require" does:

https://www.lua.org/pil/8.1.html

So to fix your error, either make sure a file "push" or "push.lua" is present in the search path, or change the path to include the location of the file.
