I have spent all day on this. I am sure I am missing something REALLY STUPID but I can't figure out what. Start a new game, hit B to increase your brush size, press 2 to switch to plains, and just scribble back and forth for a second. Then hit N for the next step, and Y. What SHOULD be happening is ...

Do a new game, hit enter, screen goes black. Press P and it clears back up. Relevant code is in worldgen.lua at the bottom of the file. Er, I don't know how else to explain it. It's a paint bucket/fill function. If you open up any paint/graphics application you can see. No takers on this? =/ I found this but don't know what language it's in or how to port it; it doesn't look too dissimilar to basic Lua but still too much for me.
