Re: Avatars: OBEY!

I'm currently reading this forum in a public place on my netbook, I just glanced up to see someone wearing a shirt that read "OBEY." Clearly we're part of a larger conspiracy. :P

Re: Window resolutions

AFAIK full screen simply sets your screen to whatever resolution you give it, in most cases this will cause stretching, but it depends on how your video card / monitor upscale things, most modern video cards can stretch but maintain aspect ratio, my netbook does not, my desktop does. I'm considering...

Re: love.physics questions

About the shapes, it seems Box2D doesn't check directly for size, but for surface, so you might want to do a surface calculation for 100% accurate results. Thanks, that should help a lot. Things look less floaty if you crank up the gravity a bit. Did you remember to take this into account when sett...

Re: love.physics questions

Thanks for that, now my levels don't spaz out on load. I'll look at LovelyBigPlanet for reference. And yes, I did mean shapes, basically I need to automatically generate shapes and on occasion it will attempt to make very thin ones. For the moment I have a couple lines to avoid trying to create them...

love.physics questions

Well I've finally gotten back to working on my project (its been about 2 months or so since I've touched it) and soon I might have some stuff to show off, but I'm having issues with physics. First off, I've noticed that objects appear to sort of randomly get imparted with momentum the first time wor...

Re: character movement physics

I tried using the y-velocity at or near 0 as a temporary solution, but it was pretty quickly ruled out because then you can't jump when running on a slope.
I'm guessing theres nothing easier than the collision callback then? would be nice to have a shape:isColliding() boolean or something.

Re: character movement physics

Yes, a solution using box2d is what I was going for, I guess I didn't make that clear.
So for starters, what the best way to handle collision detection for jumping?

character movement physics

So, I've seen a few things on controlling physics based characters, but I haven't really come across any solutions that I like. Does anyone have any suggestions / examples of ways to make physics driven characters for a platformer? I just need a good means of handling running and jumping really. Als...

Re: 0.6 physics error messages

Yay! thank you for the incredibly prompt fixing.
I think I may finally be out of excuses for why my game doesn't work correctly. ^^

Re: 0.6 physics error messages

Well having gotten that sorted, I've found that I get random crashes that are in some way related to destroy(). by removing that line and just writing over the old shapes my random crashes disappear, but after a while I get another box2d error message saying something about pair counts. Refers to th...
