Re: Skeletal animation
Spine is an amazing piece of software, but I'm waiting for IK pinning so that my characters' feet don't vibrate while I try to animate. The developers promise free updates for the life of the product. I noticed "Dust: An Elysian Tale" used a similar method before Spine came out. I haven't ...

Re: My Plans To Break Into The Video Game Industry in CANADA
Following this methodology, I believe this is how one or two of the programmers at Supergiant Games got started with the piece of work called Bastion. The art and sound talent came in later, which were both great. The funding came with the proof of concept. Still following this idea, they plan on ma...

Re: Space Combat; Balance of Tactics and Replayability
How big a ship are we talking? I personally loved FTL's approach. You use a turn-based system to do something order-based if your ship is large enough, where you can give 3 orders each turn and you have a bridge full of officers that can accept all sorts of different orders to do things. Rather tha...

You might check out this page for learning Lua:

It covers a lot of basics rather quickly, and I still use it on occasion when troubleshooting code.

Re: Need an artist for a game.
As far as tools go, I would suggest looking into GIMP and Spine: http://www.gimp.org http://esotericsoftware.com/ If you've ever played Dust: An Elysian Tale, then Spine will seem familiar as it creates 2D puppets. It really is awesome with what it can do. However, I would suggest learning how to cr...

You could also try to get an Associates degree, and then get a paid internship just to test the waters. My suggestion would be to avoid contract work like the plague. Aim for something with a salary.

Re: Jetpack Pixel [Flappy Jam]
I think it's a fun concept, but the narrow space makes it difficult to predict where to fly. I'm guessing since it's targeted towards phones that maybe this is the idea. I think it would work better length-wise instead height-wise. But that's just my 2 coppers.

0.9.1 time table?
According to what I read earlier this year, 0.9.1 is suppose to have a fix where Ubuntu Linux users can run a LOVE file by double-clicking it. Does anyone have an idea when 0.9.1 is coming out? Or is there an unstable version I can install? I notice that Bartbes' Ubuntu PPA for the unstable version ...
