Re: some help with local and images

Please post help requests to Support and Development . Anyway, the issue has nothing to do with locals or images for that matter. The table constructor for playerAnimation is malformed. You can't place statements inside a table constructor. It should look like this: local playerAnimation = { left = ...

Re: No LOVE folder, how to install LOVE on Mac?

However, how do I find out what value I should give t.identity (inside love.conf) then? Or do I just give it any string I want and it will accept that? It's not something that you must find out. You make it up yourself. It should be a unique string that identifies your game, e.g. 'geleiademocoto-su...

Re: How to access table information from a different file?

Short answer: Use `require('player')` instead of `local player = require('player')`. Long answer: If you use `local player = require('player')`, you are creating a local `player` variable, which will shadow the global `player` variable in the scope it was declared in. Why is the local `player` true ...

Re: Why isn't my black effect drawing?

Now I get a new error. You must have missed what I wrote. If you need the elements to be indexed by names, you can use pairs(), which will iterate through every key-value pair in your table. However, this will iterate over the functions too in the effects table. You can avoid that by creating a sep...

Re: Serious Memory Issues while loading Images

There is only so much you can do about loading so many - quite large - images at once.
You could show a loading screen while loading the assets.
If the memory usage is a problem, you should try to only load the resources that are necessary at a time, instead of loading everything at the beginning.

Re: Why isn't my black effect drawing?

There are two problems, both of them are in effects.lua. The first problem is, ipairs() iterates over array elements. Here is what your table looks like: effects = { darkness = { effect = love.graphics.newImage("graphics/darkness_effect.png"), alpha = 255, active = true } } darkness is not...

Re: ZeroBrane Studio Lua IDE v0.50 is out

@MadByte, I updated the condition in the plugin (and renamed it as the logic has changed). It should now better do what you expected ;). You still need the latest ZBS as I added one more API call. The file only seems to be renamed, not updated. The condition is still ide:GetDebugger():IsConnected()...

Re: STI help

You need to understand what gets executed and when. main.lua is the only file that gets executed by LÖVE (besides conf.lua ). If you want map.lua to run, you must require() it (or execute it in some other way). This brings us to the next point. Let's say you now require "map" at the top of...
