Re: Problem of local nil value with collision
The version works indeed. 7z can compress to .zip format no problem, but I usually do:
right click on files in windows explorer->Send to->Zip package

Re: Porting my own Veins of the Earth to LOVE
It probably wouldn't make sense, now that the port is so far along, but hopefully it will be a good resource for people just starting out with procedural map generation. The port is less far along than you think, especially the level generation is lacking. However I won't shift to STI, indeed. Some...

I've been using Visual Studio for a Unreal Engine 4 project so I know how much it consumes. The version's 2015 if it matters.

Re: A Few Questions on Love and Lua
Memory is a problem for you nowadays?!? I mean...how large can a lua project be?
I didn't say Lua project is a problem, I said Visual Studio itself. It gobs up 5 GB of RAM quickly.

Re: Want to make a 2d top-down or angled RPG. Starting out, could use some advice.
yougetagoldstar, there should be a couple 2d topdown rpg games made with LOVE2D already. Check out rm-code's On the Roadside as well as my Veins of the Earth port. Both are open source, so just take a look!
As zorg said, all you need to start is knowing how to draw on screen and get input in LOVE2D.

Re: Porting my own Veins of the Earth to LOVE
I don't think the Tiled format is packed in any way, and indeed STI would benefit from accepting a map table. *** https://love2d.org/imgmirrur/CuDLjGf.png Tooltips now have a background https://love2d.org/imgmirrur/25IBeBK.jpg A main menu accessible by pressing Esc - debug menu is a dummy but 'help'...
