Looks nice! Last night I did a lot of work on my menu system. Nothing fancy yet though, just a framework for setting options. Can't wait until I start designing the inventory screens.

Thanks for the positive replies :) I'll keep using this kind of style then.

While designing the GUI i've yet to decide to support i'll support XGA screen resolution (1024x768) or not. It seems 25% to 33% is still using 1024x768 or lower.
What do you guys think should be the minimum screen resolution?

I would support every resolution if I were you. Make the game window adapt to your screen and have UI stuff move around depending on the size and format.

Yes ofcourse :)

But i have to decide the minimum resolution to support. I mean 800x600 is out of the question but is 1024x768 still to common? Is anyone here using this resolution (or simular)?

My screen is 1280 x 800 so I have to use 1024 * 768 sometimes... not all games support widescreen :( .

1280x800 for my desktop, but have to switch down a notch - same as the previous guy mentioned with the widescreen issue...

My Notebook laptop is a 1024x600... means it can't run... pretty much anything that needs bigger than that and or/requires a graphics card with devoted memory cache and separate processing power.

I was a massive fan of Homeworld. Subsequently I love all RTS strategy games, I love the simple graphical and 2D approach you find in some 2D games. Google: "Shellcore Ep1" It's not strictly RTS but the graphics are what I'm wanting to show you.

Look forward to seeing this when it's completed!

Ok i'll support 1024x768 :)
The 2 screens I work with 90% of the time have 1680x1050 as resolution. I love widescreen but sadly enough as you mentioned, not every game supports widescreen ratio's.
So I'll be supporting mainly 4:3 and 8:5, plus some extra one's like 5:3 (1280x768), 5:4 (1280x1024)

I've looked up Shellcore EP1, the unit style looks very familiar to mine :D Thanks for showing this.

My screen is that big too, so the game might turn out well at my screen ^^
It's very nice when developing and gaming 8-)

The official ratio appears to be 16:10 though.

No worries for the Shellcore Ep1 link, it annoys me how games on Kongregate get high ratings so easily and subsequently cash prizes (highest rated monthly: $1,000 and highest weekly $250). The game isn't even completely finished, it's buggy and is only part 1 of an entire game - yet it gets 4/5 and possibly the cash prize!

Anyways, enough of my anti-capitalist rant. Look forward to seeing your game.

Ps. Hey love2d forums, im new here :)
