Ludum Dare 37 - Jam together!

Post by evgiz »

Hey everyone!

With Ludum Dare 37 coming up in just a few hours, I'm curious as to how many on this forum are attending.
I'm definitely planning to, and so I figured a single thread for sharing progress and giving feedback could be fun and helpful for everyone.
We can discuss the theme, brainstorm ideas, share gifs and screenshots or whatever else related to LD. That is if you're not buried too deep in your gamejam spaghetti code to ever come out.

I'll make sure to check out everyones games after the event as well! Also I encourage everyone to record a timelapse of their development, its cool to see other peoples workflow!

So who's in? :)

I just briefly checked this out because I haven't heard of it before. I would like to participate, as I'm working on a game with a friend, but we've already started working on it, and it's been in development for more than 72 hours, so I don't know if our is applicable. x.x

When the jam starts a theme is announced and you have to make a game based on that theme. You're not supposed to send in a game you've been working on before the event started.

I would still give it a shot. The whole point is starting from scratch neverminding what you were doing before - which you can still do. And since it's only 72h (as a maximum! you can just submit early to the jam and note it in the description) you will be forced to finish it immediately before a chance of burnout, which makes it some very, very valuable development experience. If you have never jammed before, I can't stress enough how much perspective it gives you on all other projects you start/work on after.

Here is my progress so far after a couple hours of work.

I'm unsure how to tie my idea to the theme though. Hmmm..

I can see you're also using the fake 3d style, are you using Lovox, or something made by yourself?

Oh its really cool to see more people using the technique! I've never heard of Lovox, I'm using my own software to preview models though while I edit. Its on this forum if you wanna check it out! Link: viewtopic.php?t=83059
