All About Angles

Post by zachwlewis »

I made a really, really simple introduction to trig cheat-sheet for a friend I'm teaching to LOVE. It is by no means perfect, but I think the information is solid and enough to get someone who knows very little about trig using the sin and cos functions.

I've attached it. Feel free to distribute.

Neat. Love the header.

“Mostpeople” -> “Most people”
“yeild” -> “yield” (twice)
“θdeg” in the second tip looks weird.

Cool, though math.deg and math.rad might be worth mentioning.

I don't know whether this is a bit overkill, but the first trigonometric function that newies want to use is arcTangent ("How can I make my turret point to the player").

Another thing worth mentioning is angle normalization: angles less than 0 or bigger than 2*Pi have "equivalents" on the 0-2*Pi range.
When I write def I mean function.

Not for me it wasn't -- my first actual use of trig was UFO's circling a planet. I borrowed the code from a clock display.

Awesome!
Thanks! :neko:
It is incredibly useful for people like me who never got a proper math education.

Well... I made this in a few minutes for a friend. Is this something that people would like to see a tutorial series on? If so, I'll make it happen. :)
