[solved]I cannot figure out any sort of physics at all.

Post by get52 »

I tried learning hardoncollider but i got confused, I'm thinking about box2D but i hear that it's heavy and I see alot of code so i get kinda scared  whats the simplest way to use physics

like the simplest library/built in physics thing...I sound retarded but yeah. is box2D simpler then hardoncollider + collide resoluton?

Platformer

What kind of game are you making?

Some more detail and description on what went wrong with Hardoncollider would be nice as well, maybe even add a .love file.
I am making a retro platformer

But I still suggest you giving HC a try again, but this time with our help.
:) okay thanks, i'm 13 and really want to make a game. i'll get help this time.

I think im gonna try love.physics aswell because it looks cool xD

Love physics is most likely complete overkill for what you're trying to do.

If you want something really simple, just code it yourself. For a retro platformer, you don't need any fancy realistic physics. Just make some simple jumping and collision detection.

Try this tutorial. It takes you through the whole process of making a platformer with jumping and robust collision.

There is no simple physics guys, avoid coding physic and use the tools that are already available to you.

Have you seen Concerned Joe ?
LoveDebug- A library that will help you debug your game with an on-screen fully interactive lua console, you can even do code hotswapping :D
