Ten Second War

Post by Almost » Mon Apr 05, 2010 4:14 am

Hello! I have not been here in a while.

I created a game for the March Experimental Gameplay Project, which had the theme of 10 Seconds. I really liked the way it turned out, so I have been working on it since then. It is still a work in progress, but it is entirely playable and has a significant quantity of content.

In the game, you are able to control a unit for 10 seconds, during which time the game plays as a top down shooter. After the 10 seconds have finished, time rewinds and you pick a different unit. This time, the first unit will be doing what you did with it earlier as you do something different now. After every unit has been controlled in this way, they will all be acting at the same time, moving as an intelligent army to destroy every enemy on the map within 10 seconds. The variety of unit types are able to work together in many ways, making this a very tactical and skillful game.

Any comments on awkwardness of aspects of the interface, suggestions for additional mechanics or features, bug reports, or anything else you might have to say is appreciated.

[edit: apparently file was dead, so I've reuploaded it]

This is by far the most original and well made game I have ever seen made with Löve. The only thing I would want to change is the font. It's very hard to read, and it doesn't look very good.

Apart from that, very, very well done!

You click the unit you wish to control, then you just move around using wasd and fire using the left mouse button.

Very good game. Took me a couple minutes to figure out clicking a unit first though.

How do you click the units? I keep clicking them, and they never become active..

Like this. Click a unit with the mouse like the one highlighted in blue.
