Chains the puzzle game

Post by ivan »

Hey everybody, I'm here to brag... I mean talk to you about the first title that I've completed, called Chains.

Chains is a puzzle game with a unique feel and distinctive vector graphics style. The object of the game is simple - to link adjacent bubbles of the same color into chains. As you progress through the physics-driven stages it becomes increasingly more challenging and your speed, strategy and skill will be put to the test.

DOWNLOAD THE DEMO

Features
20 levels each focusing on action, strategy or flow
Physics-driven gameplay
3 difficulty modes
Unlimited replayability value
Unique art direction with beautiful vector graphics
Soundtrack from the Belgian electro band Silence

I am most interested in technical issues that you may have with running the demo. Also, I'm especially proud because Chains is the first game made with the AGen 2D (quite similar to Love). The game is 100% Lua scripted and runs Box2D from an external module.

Thanks for your time.

Yeah, I did say that it wasn't made with Love, but maybe I should have mentioned that more clearly.
Green_Hell, looking at your standards tickles my curiosity - what games DO you play? :)

It's kinda slow when you begin a stage, but it gets much better once you get a few balls in(Heh). But dude, the girl on the second level song sounds weird. Like she's being raped or something...

Haha, that's actually a fair criticism.
The game feels a little too edgy for the casual scene which is not a good thing for marketing reasons.

By the way, if anybody wants to become a beta tester let me know and I'll send you a link to the full version.
But then you have to be willing to complete the game and give me feedback.

Thanks for the comments.

I just get a black screen with "quit" in the upper right corner, when i start the first level. Am i doing something wrong? :?

My machine: Intel Core2 Quad 2gb, nvidia 8600gts graphics card.

Edit: Btw, why is the engine not for linux also, it seems like there is no real reason not to have it for all the platforms?
