Frogs & Flies early demo

Post by yatzin »

I just grabbed LOVE a couple days ago in an attempt to test if I wanted to pursue making games with this engine. For testing purposes I was working on re-creating a version of the old atari game Frogs & Flies. The code is very sloppy as I am learning the language and didn't break anything out into functions yet.

Use Arrow keys to move your frog around (must jump up to move left or right unless in water) and use the space bar to stick your tongue out. With each fly you eat, they get faster and more erratic in there direction.

Anyway, Enjoy!

V2 Adjusted how often the sound fires off (it was too much and was annoying to me)

It's extremely fast. I think you need to use dt for not making the game speed dependent on cpu speed
lg.newImage("cat.png") -- made possible by lg = love.graphics
-- Don't force fullscreen (it frustrates those who want to try your game real quick) -- Develop for 1280x720 (so people can make HD videos)

That explains why it was rather slow for me...

Haha, wow. I don't remember ever playing this, but nice job. It definitely has the look and feel of an Atari game. Sometimes I really miss the simplicity of those games.
