Everything you draw stays there until you clear it (this fills the whole area with solid color). The screen is cleared every frame automatically, but if you draw to a canvas you need to clear it manually.

Re: get set vs properties, whether they are a good idea

I wouldn't disguise a complex setter as a property. You might forget it was a setter with side-effects and then there will be a lot of futile bug hunting.

Re: get set vs properties, whether they are a good idea

Well that's not actually properties, that's still functions wrapped in a dispatcher that makes the code look like it's properties.

And I imagine that's a hefty performance penalty for such minuscule amount of syntax sugar - not even any sort of useful feature.

Re: get set vs properties, whether they are a good idea

Why would that be slower? If anything, it should be faster, however trivial getters/setters are inlined and then there is no difference whatsoever. The practice of using getters and setters is useful when getting and setting a value does more than just changes its private variable, when it has some ...

Re: LÖVE 11.1 released!

Linux distros in general move away from ability to run executables from file browser. So using AppImage might not be the best idea. This didn't used to be a problem but apparently the Windows Way is creeping its way into Linux and this is what it takes to stop it. Frankly, I support it. The Windows ...

Re: TD tower types

Have you coded that part yet? Immediately before shooting, it goes over the list of enemies that it has in its targeting range, casts a ray against them and checks how many enemies are affected. There is some basic spatial indexing involved to cut down on computation costs. f some were resistant to...

TD tower types

I'm making a tower defense game and one of the gimmicks is vast amount of different towers. The key word is "different", I chose to abstain from making reskins as much as possible - each tower is at least a little functionally different than other towers. The intention is that you must pick and choo...

Re: Stuttering & Fixed Timesteps

It doesn't just show up as using 100%, it actually does uses up 100% of the CPU. It's not so much alarming as it is annoying due to unnecessary fan spin and battery drain.
