Re: Error loading lua file

You need to tell LÖVE to run the game folder, not the main.lua file.

Code: Select all

love.exe "C:/Program Files/LOVE/testing lua"

Re: Spell Sling - First-person roguelike dungeon crawler

Pretty fun game. You should mention somewhere that it's turn based.

Re: Why are there two networking libraries in Love?

Both are included in LÖVE, and you use whichever one fits your needs the best. See https://www.reddit.com/r/love2d/comments/r3qg1k/luasocket_vs_luaenet/ They do network stuff a bit differently. LuaSocket supports both blocking operations (TCP, which sends packages reliably and in-order), and non-blo...

Re: Nano Ninja - LOWREZJAM

Very Ninja Gaiden. This is quite nice for a small jam game. Good job! One thing I felt was missing: a health bar for the boss. When hitting him I wasn't sure I was actually dealing damage. I looked in the top right corner of the screen and thought the bars showed the boss' health (I realized those w...

Re: [solved] example request , canvas scale - camera - pixel perfect - simplified

You'll have to explain what exactly you mean by jitter, or show a video or something of what's happening, before I can provide any better help. Ditching the damp function is probably a good idea as it's not very clever about the movement. In my games I've always just fixed the camera on the player, ...

Re: Problem when a table collides with a table

In addition to darkfrei's answer, pairs() does not iterate over items in any particular order. (It's also for iterating over all fields in a table, numeric or not. See Lua's manual .) You should be using ipairs() when you want to iterate from index 1 and forward (but not in this case, as darkfrei is...

Re: [solved] example request , canvas scale - camera - pixel perfect - simplified

I don't see any jitter in the background in my example with the settings you posted, but jitter can be caused by numerous things. (See my reply in that other thread.) If you force dt to be 1/60 in love.update, does it make movement smoother (in the example)?

These are upgrades you can buy for the ship. Also, the turning is simply that slow, not just for you. Nothing wrong with the physics simulation.

Re: Collision with transparent images

Load the image with love.image.newImageData and use ImageData:getPixel or ImageData:mapPixel to check pixel values. For larger images this is very slow, as BrotSagtMist suggests, but could work fine for lower resolutions. As for collision response, that's quite a big topic and depends completely on ...
