Why delete your question once you've got your answer? Don't you want your thread to be helpful to other people with the same problem?

Re: Indexed 16 colour palette simulation?

Heheh, well it's exactly what @Stifu is doing in his zabayuki game too :) Maybe Stifu can take advantage of that technique too :) But his purpose is a bit different, so maybe not. I'll see about that with the game programmer, because although I can code, I'm actually the graphic artist for that gam...

Dude, I have to thank you. I got what I wanted in the end, with this video tutorial to get my head around what's going on, your example for some guidance, and my own programming experience.
Nice. :) You're welcome.

Though editing the pixels to make a new image means you couldn't do real-time palette animations.
Why not? If it's fast enough...

Re: Indexed 16 colour palette simulation?

i'd be tempted not to use shaders for that but to edit the pixels of the images when i load, something i plan to do... my two cents This might come in handy then: https://youtu.be/uQP6hsD5bEI I haven't looked into it at all, but I doubt the performances would be as good as with shaders. Not sure th...

Re: Indexed 16 colour palette simulation?

Hmm... I don't suppose you know how to run an older version of Love2D on Linux? When I try to run your game I get a warning about my Love2D version being 11.1 and your game being 10.1, and then it exits with some code errors. I don't really know, I guess it depends on whether you can find it alread...

Re: Indexed 16 colour palette simulation?

We have color swaps in our game, and I think that's pretty much the same idea. We use shaders for that. Our color swap definitions are here: https://github.com/thomasgoldstein/zabuyaki/blob/master/src/def/misc/shaders.lua Example (not the whole code, obviously): local rickColors_original = { { 196, ...

Don't wanna play forum police here, but he said he solved his problem already... several months ago.

Edit: hmm... looking at his other posts, that guy kinda looks like a bot.

Re: MacOS Dropping Support of OpenGL

Maybe adding Vulkan support would make more sense than bothering with Metal? But Vulkan can't simply replace OpenGL without dropping support for many old or limited machines (like the Raspberry).

And here is another solution:
Make your game open source. Let people in.
Well, that goes without saying. But as DekuJuice said, you should ask reviewers to focus on a specific part, or no one will do it.
