Re: Very confused here, requesting help.

Jeeper has some tutorials on youtube, and there's the tutorial written by sheepolution. Sheepolution's one has installation instructions for love and ZeroBrane as the code editor of choice, while I think Jeeper uses Visual Studio Code. Choice of code editor ultimately is up to preference, though.

Re: How to make bitser more robust

I guess my first recommendation, before going and trying to modify bitser, would be to just not save any userdata in the table you want to serialize. I find it's better to keep track of any data that may be saved separate from assets (audio, images, etc). You really don't want to serialize assets in...

Re: Where can you find the downloads for older löve2d versions?

You'll just have to find a way to whitelist the love.exe for the version you want to use. There have been viruses with the name "love.exe" out in the wild, so your antivirus is just getting some false positives from scanning the name against its database. Maybe the specific version you're ...

Re: These buttons execute the same callback but they are different tables!

The issue seems to be in your buttons' update() function. You check if a button is being highlighted, but then handle the clicks as though highlighting doesn't matter. As such, what's happening is that button1 is getting clicked regardless what you click on the screen. So you'll have to do this litt...

Re: What sites do you recommend for hosting your screenshots and game?

Attaching files to a post is located on the screen where you write up your, well, post. Under the textbox.

However, I think that recently registered users can not post files - not until they have posted at least a few posts on the forums.

Re: attempt to index out of range sample

Going off a limb here, but as per wiki the sample positions start from 0 when using getSample/setSample. As such I think that erroring line should be along the lines of: NewSound:setSample(I-1,C,Sound:getSample(SampleIndex-1,C)) With the caveat that you'll have to be careful that the "SampleInd...

Re: Other ways than shaders for transparent color?

You can also use stencils to achieve this same effect, which may be useful for more complex shapes than simple circles. You'll just have to define a stencil function that draws a circle shape, shrink it over time, and everything this circle is not touching gets rendered. So when the rectangle is bei...

Re: Simple sine/radians problem - I think

It's not really about the radians, but rather this peculiar line at the top of main.lua: Lander.speed = love.math.random(0,1) For whatever reason, the lander's speed is set randomly at startup, and if love.math.random is used this way it will return only either 0 or 1 ( as per wiki ). As such, somet...

Re: Bizarre nil issue

Creates upvalues every time you use it, slower than just using plain math.random or love.math.random, and love.math.setRandomSeed achieves the same thing with less. In practice, it might work, but it's something I'd never even consider or suggest using. However, I don't take an issue with your propo...

Re: wait() doesn't work

Alternatively, if you mean the wait command from unix or C, I guess one way to do it is to spawn a thread, let the thread do anything that is needed (system calls or otherwise) and wait for it send a corresponding message back via channels. The love.thread page on the wiki has a simple example.
