Re: Drawing outside of love.draw

But bad things can happen on various operating systems if you don't [...] call love.graphics.clear before drawing to the backbuffer in the current frame Is that also true if you are drawing a fully opaque screen-sized canvas to the screen every frame? In that situation the main bad thing is that it...

Re: Drawing outside of love.draw

Just to be clear, I'm doing this outside of the draw loop. love.graphics.present creates a frame boundary. But bad things can happen on various operating systems if you don't pump and poll events after that frame boundary, and call love.graphics.clear before drawing to the backbuffer in the current...

Re: Drawing outside of love.draw

Just to add one thing: with "a modulus of ~1000", that's 8,000,000 calls to love.graphics.circle per frame. Are you sure you need 8 million circles to be drawn to the screen each frame?

love.graphics.flushBatch is another tool that might be useful for experimenting with framerates.

Re: How to print in to terminal console?

The 'open' command doesn't route stdout to the active command prompt. You can just run the love executable directly, instead of going through a separate command (there's no need to use 'open' at all):

Code: Select all

/Applications/love.app/Contents/MacOS/love ~/path/to/project_folder

Re: Plans for the future? (OpenGL being deprecated by Apple)

Is that mean M1 Macs also getting native support? M1 macs have native support already in love 11.4 . So when Love 12 is going to be officially released? We don't have an official release schedule, but you can see the remaining nice-to-have things that aren't done yet here (although we don't guarant...

Re: Plans for the future? (OpenGL being deprecated by Apple)

If you want to use Rust, you don't need to stick with love - there are plenty of other frameworks and engines and libraries out there, some of which are inside Rust's ecosystem. As for graphics backends on Apple platforms, love 12 already has a working Metal backend alongside the existing OpenGL bac...

Depending on where the underlying problem is, it might need to be fixed by the people who develop your phone's graphics drivers, rather than anyone here.

Re: What can cause love2d not to draw

Maybe it's a graphics driver problem - what GPU and operating system do you have, and are you using the latest available drivers for your GPU?

Re: File chooser dialogs with FFI

This is true. However native OS file dialogs can look nicer in some situations and might give more (potentially idiomatic platform-specific) features that users expect, compared to a single implementation across all platforms. Absolutely! Is that a potential feature we can expect then? I just didn'...

Re: File chooser dialogs with FFI

I might be mistaken, but I think I read somewhere that the next release of Love will allow access to the entire filesystem. This would mean a simple love/lua library can be written to achieve the same goal of having a cross-platform file chooser dialog. Can anyone else confirm that? This is true. H...
