Re: Any idea in implementing steering behaviour

Oh, you have a grid. My bad. Forget everything I said. A* is the way to go. Instead of a binary "open/obstacle" value, generate a heatmap of your obstacles. A* will then "avoid" them on its way to the goal. I don't really know how to do that :P :), but I think you're talking about including the obs...

Re: Any idea in implementing steering behaviour

The inverse square of the distance is actually 1/d², it's NOT the square root . Since calculating the distance involves a square root, that square root cancels with the square. The result is: function inv_sqr_distance(x1, y1, x2, y2) return 1/((x2-x1)^2 + (y2-y1)^2) end ... I was looking at the sqr...

Re: Help with steering behaviour

The most obvious solution that will grind this to a slideshow is to have each boid iterate over the flock to find the x closest boids and then ensure separation between those boids. That's the logical solution. I'm not sure if that would be slow or not. I tried something like that with flee(and the...

Re: Any idea in implementing steering behaviour

What Xii has detailed (very well I have to say) is largely vector maths. It sounds scary but it's far easier to understand than calculus, algebra and even basic physics. I reckon if you spent one afternoon doing a medium dive into vectors and vector maths that script would make sense to you. :) No,...

Re: Packaging apk file on an android

If you just want to package APK, not distributing to Play Store (as they reject APKs now), Game_Distribution/APKTool is sufficient. You need PC/laptop to do it though. That means command-line emulator can't be used. Don't even think trying to package new APK from your phone, it's most likely won't ...

Re: Any idea in implementing steering behaviour

... Xii wrote a bunch of stuff, actually... Haha, thnx for the 'from the very beginning' explanation ( it now ensures that there's no way for me to not understand anymore :ultraglee: :P ). As for it not being able to move around obstacles...I really hope that my AI doesn't need to be that smart(*sw...

Can you guess why is it called "Alien Joint"?

https://zuccaromateo.itch.io/alien-joint
Hey, nice game, I like games that implement bosses so :ultraglee: :P .

I bet that's like, a rhetorical question( but I'm curious like that). Why, because of the joining of the aliens that you pick up?

Re: Any idea in implementing steering behaviour

https://natureofcode.com/book/chapter-6-autonomous-agents/ this book is very nice and free btw the weighing part is something like this in pseudocode 0.4 * pathfollowing + 0.6 * obstacle avoidance = the force you want to apply this frame ... Thnx, I'll try to read that book (though I've seen it bef...
