Gspot has had a major rewrite (thanks to some suggestions .. you know who you are). It should now be much more efficient, and a little easier to use. I suppose it goes without saying that you should watch as many zombie flicks as you can get your hands on, and take notes. Well, stay in the couch is pretty lame and no substitute of reality. Why don't you try simplifying a little?
Something like :

Doh! both i and ii need to be numbers before they can do anything useful. I'm afraid you'll need to learn the basics before you can write a program.
