Re: trAInsported: Alpha testers needed

What OS do you have?

Please try again and start the game with:

Code: Select all

love trAInsported.love
(Without the --host option)

Does that work?

It might just be the attempt to render the server's live match and the tutorial map at the same time which causes it to fail.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

Re: trAInsported: Alpha testers needed

When you check if '+' or '-' is pressed, could you check the unicode value? Otherwise, on different keyboard layouts people have to press where that key is in the English keyboard layout, and LÖVE doesn't want to read '+' on my Italian keyboard Will fix this. Sorry. There's no other keys it affects...

It's in alpha-state, please excuse any bugs. I also need windows and mac testers, because I have no windows/ma...

Re: "Loosing" my thread?

Thanks,
It seems to work now. I've now generated 1093 levels and it's still running. All I did was to reuse the old thread, as you suggested. Now it just idles while no map is being generated. As soon as I need a new map, the thread is re-activated but not recreated.
Thanks!

Re: Transparency and imageData:paste ?

I know C-Style Languages are much faster, I just didn't think it was such a large difference. I doubt mapPixel will be faster -> it will call the function for every pixel, after all, which my function avoids (I did not post this part, but basically, I add lots of smaller map elements - trees, houses...

Transparency and imageData:paste ?

I need to paste imageData 1 onto another imageData 2, where imageData 1 has transparent parts. Using imageDate2:paste(...) it will replace the part of the image entirely. Instead, I want it to overlay the two (I want it to look the way it looks when using love.graphics.draw() over another love.graph...

Re: "Loosing" my thread?

Ah, thanks! I understand what you're saying... I should re-use the map generation thread and just set it to idle while I don't use it. I'll think about it, this might actually be quite simple to change... On my original problem: It seems to be related to the raspberry pi I run the game on. On my lap...

Re: "Loosing" my thread?

Having other difficulties with my PI right now, I'll report back when I've tried running the server using a proper thread:wait() call. I'm testing it on my other PC right now - I hope this will get me some answers. Thanks a lot at this point for all the hints and tipps! @ bartbes I must admit, your ...

Re: "Loosing" my thread?

Uh, sorry, didn't read the last two posts. Maximum number of threads I ever use is around nineteen, which I know might not be the most efficient solution, but this is only at the first startup, to generate some images. I use the 249 threads AFTER each other. At the beginning of each round, a thread ...

Re: "Loosing" my thread?

This time it happend one match earlier, match ID 248.

It must be something to do with memory or some variable overflowing... or something along those lines... otherwise it wouldn't always happen around the same match...
