Re: 3dreamengine

There is another cool library to implement 3D on Love2D, called LÖVE3D . This seems pretty well documented, that's really nice. I will give it a try, I have some 3D plans for another game and Unity is not an option for me. Keep in mind the fact that the library itself is archived since, as the gith...

Re: Midi format music distortion

Hi and welcome to the forums! The issue is that while löve does indeed support parsing midi formats, it does so through the included libmodplug library, which expects something called Timidity to exists. Without it, it will play all notes as the same default instrument, which seems to be some simple...

Re: So after these troubled times... How's behaving Löve?

Not sure about the benefits if you mean in a monetary way, but for the musically inclined, the addition of queue-able Sources made real-time sound synthesis and playback simpler than ever.

... ...As for sound, I'll defer that to our sound expert :) That's probably not me but let me chime in regardless :P Full disclosure is, we did discuss this at length in Discord previously; i can only say that while it would give more options for the person that wants to use this module to do stuff...

Re: Error boot.lua:530: conf.lua:4: attempt to index field 'screen' (a nil value)

Hi and welcome to the forums! I will need to make a guess, but the issue seems to be that you are using an older version of LOVE (something before 0.0.9; either 0.8.0 or something similar), which had those fields in the conf.lua file, but the newer versions don't. If you don't have old hardware, the...

Re: Do i need to learn lua before learning löve? Or can I learn it both at the same time?

I mean, specifically and directly. Löve doesn't have the same structures as roblox, so it is literally useless to learn all that if you're going to code with Löve anyway. Worse yet, it might confuse beginners, them expecting those to be part of lua proper, and not just something that roblox added. (...

Re: Help with creating a paint program!

Alternatively, you can also do it with a table holding all past points you detected, iterating over all of them and drawing them pairwise... in that case, you don't need a canvas, but the age-old tradeoff of memory vs. processing is true here as well; the canvas is fast since you just draw the last ...

Re: Need help with the LÖVE engine

Hi and welcome to the forums! That's Löve working as intended. :3 Löve's a game framework, not an engine. Don't expect it to have a graphical interface like Unity or something. (Although someone could eventually make something like that...) Take your favorite text or code editor (or an IDE like VSco...

Re: Do i need to learn lua before learning löve? Or can I learn it both at the same time?

Then again, roblox is full of useless things that can't be used outside of it, so i'd rather caution others to stay away from roblox, since they might learn crutches they can't let go of... just my opinion of course. But yes, you should have a basic knowledge on how logic works, then how programming...

Re: Build Love with Ruby instead of Lua

And lua's concept may very well be: "you only need tables as /the/ aggregate type" and i'm sure others can list similar whimsical one-liners for other languages like perl or whatever. :3 So, Löve is written in C++, and it uses LuaJIT by default to execute lua code as fast as if it were near native C...
