SpriteBatch with a z cord

Hello. I have made a fairly competent game so far, and I am looking into using spriteBatches for additional performance, however I am limited by the fact that I have a z map on my maps (ordered map of when to draw what which is dynamic). So my question is: How do I use sprite batches alongside a z m...

Re: How to detect from an image the shape for an physic obje

I want use complex shapes with the 2D physics engina that love2d has, right now I onlu can use simple shapes like a circle or a square. I want to draw something like a hand in an image and when it loads the engine has to detect the shape of the object. Is this easely achiavable? 1. the 2d physics e...

Re: PieFiller - a graphical profiler

I must say i like this library, but there are a few things that bug me: - Keys aren't re-definable (without editing the file itself) - The code isn't the cleanest to look at, one can get lost in it quite easily, not to mention that bugs may hide somewhere in there - You already stated you're workin...

PieFiller - a graphical profiler

Its nice and easy to make a game, but its rather difficult to build a good game and a good game doesn't lag. A pratical way to reduce lag is by the use of a profiler, however most profilers are slow and require you to print output to file, but no longer! I present to you: PieFiller Piefiller is a de...

LuaSocket, get transfer info.

Hello, I have been playing around with LuaSocket. I am using it along-side a FTP server, but I cannot figure out how to get the % of file transfered and network data; eg download speed. How can I do this via lua socket?

Note that the network code is running on a separate thread.

Re: Staying focused is hard.

I am surprised no-one mentioned desktop timers. They are so simple and work as a charm, just watching the time trickle down can be really motivating. I often used to take 20 minute breaks that extended into 40 and then 60 etc, but with a timer running you know exactly how much time you are spending ...

Re: Environments, safe and unsafe.

Sorry I should have outlined what I mean by "safe". By safe I mean the following; the fn/mod must not provide unauthorized access out of the established environment or in any way compromise the users computer or leave permanent damage to the machine or grant unauthorized access to the user...

Re: Environments, safe and unsafe.

I think that instead of asking 'which functions should be excluded' a more reasonable question is 'which functions should be included in the sandbox, and why'. Also, as Zorg mentioned it depends on what you mean by 'safe'. For example, Box2D/love.physics can be exploited to produce a C-crash or an ...

Re: Environments, safe and unsafe.

I'd suggest gdocs first. Also, that we should separate issues, like, memory issues (filling ram), hdd issues (writing too much or any data), cpu issues (basically slowing the app, if not the system to a halt), and security ones (like os.execute for example) Adding notes alone should be enough, it w...

Re: Environments, safe and unsafe.

Depends on what one would consider safe really, i mean, in what i'm currently making, the sandbox grants access to most lua things, but restricts require and all io related functions from both lua and löve.filesystem (because i'm giving them modified functions into the sandboxed environment that th...
