A blood splatting effect demo (now with animated chicks !)

Hey folks, I worked on a little experiment using canvas during my last weekend. I ended up trying to make blood splats everywhere, because blood is the coolest thing :vamp:

Yet I have a decent but unsatisfying blood effect. It lacks "something" but I can't put the finger on it. As a consequence, I'm asking for community feedback. Any advice?

EDIT:
I updated the demo with:
  • more actions (try right click and space).
  • animated chickens thanks to Spine.
  • thicker blood trails
  • ugly handcrafted sounds

You may wish to revisit the title. When reading the title of your post I automatically thought of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kisekae_Set_System. I'm not sure how common is the acronmy "KISS" in open-source video games, but that one's in the ubuntu repos.

That was pretty cool. I liked that the icons started to run if you shoot someone close to them.

Also, the name reminds me of the old saying, Keep It Simple Stupid.

Absolutly. I'm not sure where to place them though.

Hey, I added (ugly) sounds and a second weapon: the targeted bomb. I also added droplets suggested by stonecrow. Still missing something imo.

I guess, in my humble opinion, I would say that each stream of blood is a bit thick. Maybe try to have more thin streams of blood and as someone already mentioned, droplets of blood that would shoot out larger angles than the streams.
To me, it looks like there is more blood coming from the Love Circle than could realistically be held in it.

It's not bad though.

I read about it, but I don't see the way I could use it so it improves my effect. Can you provide details on your idea?
