Löve is absolutly nessesary for prototyping multiplattform games!

the core aspects for me are:
-Löve has a nice and easy API
-Löve is Multiplattform (maybe NDS and iPhone next time? I hope so)
-Löve is small (no big download, nothing to install)
-Löve is easy to Port (should be easier ;-)
-not much dependencies (this is important for porting)
-Löve is opensource

This are the most important Corefacts for Löve. I thought of an Browser Plugin already. Just to make shure, we kill Flash ;-).

Flash has been and always will be in position of power because artists already know how to use Flash development tools, Macromedia spent over a decade paying vendors to bundle their client, and many of Macromedia's tools (although now under Adobe, these are out of style,) were designed to make your site require flash, thus ensuring everyone had it.

I don't like Flash. Flash is properiatry. You cannot enhance Flash. Flash doesn't work on all OS. (Love also but it's possible because of OSS, just needs some work).
Also Lua is more common in gamedevelopment as the propritary ActionScript.

I agree 100%.

What I'm saying is that it's hard for open source projects to do the things that Macromedia has done to get Flash into the position that it's in. We don't have a warchest of investor dollars to go out and pay vendors to include LOVE on the computers and operating systems they distribute. And even though tons of people are now using Ubuntu, most of them accept proprietary software as an ordinary part of life; most of them don't really get a boner for free software like I do, and they're just using Ubuntu because Vista is so awful and XP is no longer supported.

But we don't have to.

Look i take Love for prototyping small Games. Like a Sandbox for my Ideas.
If we wanna distribute Games, you can copy Love and the game together and i will work fine. Just one binary.

But of couse, if you think of an Love Runtime and only distribute the Game archives...you will go into war with Flash and of couse Silverlight. But we don't have an Browserbased Love so i think it's not the right time to think of distribution.

What Love needs are Samples, Libaries and Tools.

Right.. you really do? :ultrashocked::
Well, I use Ubuntu because I like it more than any other OS I've tried... (not a linux noob), but you're right, I accept proprietary software.

Don't forget you also have to distribute the dynamic libs. (Windows=.dll)
