Except they tell you less, the current format is major.minor.revision, where major versions can change everything, minor can change a lot (and they have, in the past), but less, and revisions should be mostly compatible. (Generally backwards compatible.)

Yeah. remember that only just a few days ago I as OSX user got a working build. anjo and slime (sorry if I forgot mention someone else that is dealing with OSX version) are doing a great job but there is always problems to be solved like for example the white fullscreen problems (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=8261). Don't know if the linux build is doing well but can take a bit all 3 OS versions be synchro and ready for 0.8 release. I at least I'm trying to run the most I can in 0.8 so I catch some undetected and unwanted bugs.

There's also the Linux Kernel model, where little changed between 2.6.39 and 3.0, but if you compared 2.0 to 3.0 there was a very huge difference. I'll stop now :D

The Love version numbering is good.

I'm a firm believer in Semantic Versioning, a.k.a. semver.

So much of a believer, in fact, that I have implemented my own semver library in Lua. It handles all the quirks and special cases of the spec (like builds and prereleases).

I was assuming LÖVE was using Semantic Versioning because it basically says "0.x is for development, and no rules apply" :P

I am also very patient. Don't rush it guys, take your time to make it good. You will not get pressure from me on that regard.

Oh my didn't know there was some much to it, you all have educated me. I'm guess this stuff is that project mangers or software mangers deal with when it comes to programing or things will get messy.
