I just don't know what to officially call it.

love2d.org is the domain name. The framework itself is called LÖVE.

I mostly use LÖVE here, but that name is not google-friendly, so I use love2d everywhere else to ensure anyone looking specifically for the engine can find it. Here it's not necessary because it's already in the domain name.

You can't write LÖVE on a keyboard. I don't even know how they got the Ö thing.

You can type any unicode character regardless of your keyboard layout (on Windows).
First enable NumLock on your keyboard.
Hold Left Alt and type the umlat code 0214 on the numpad.
Ö will appear when you release Left Alt.
Either that or you can just copy/paste it which is often faster.

You think I am going to do and remember all that for a weird letter?
At best I will copy paste.

You could also just check if your keyboard has a diacritic key similar to this. With one, despite my Scandinavian keyboard having a dedicated key for Ö, I can also press the diacritic key and O to get the same result. On Macs you can use alt+key to get umlauts, among other things.

Alternatively, you can also setup a compose key. There are plenty of ways to get one working on Windows if all else fails and Alt+number combinations (even just for Ö) aren't your jam.

No one's gonna force ya, you know :3 (if you only replied to ivan's alt-codes solution), love is also acceptable, but love2D is the domain name only.

The point of my post with the wikipedia links was a friendly reminder that US keyboards aren't the be all end all around the world; the fact that you can't write it (with a dedicated key) on your keyboard doesn't mean others can't have a keyboard with a layout that does have it; and the metal umlaut article was there for a possible origin to why the engine became löve, answering your second question from before.
