Transparent Windows in Love2D

Specifically, I'm looking for a solution that allows per-pixel transparency of a borderless window.

I'm aiming to make a virtual desktop pet.

I am aware that this was discussed in a couple of previous threads, so I guess I just want an update for the year 2020.

p.s. As much as it pains me, I'm open to suggestions outside of Love2D if need be.

LOVE doesn't support window with alpha transparency like you described.
