Re: Ballad of Thuriana: a Shining Force inspired Tactical RPG

Now that I'm off for the summer (I'm a college teacher) I can get work done faster. This week has been all about the Item Shop. One of the challenges here is that each character has their own inventory, as well as a party-wide Item Box, so purchasing Items is a little more involved (such as choosing...

Re: Ballad of Thuriana: a Shining Force inspired Tactical RPG

Looks really cool! I saw from your instagram that you picked up the Jesse Schell book. I love that one. Very insightful. Best of luck on development and I hope to try this game one day. Thanks! Man, that Jesse Schell book was a huge help. I'm good with the programming part, but that book and those ...

I should probably include a few screenshots here rather than requiring people to head to social media.

Ballad of Thuriana: a Shining Force inspired Tactical RPG

Well folks, I've been at work for about a year now on a game I've been thinking about for years. I always loved the Shining Force games on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive, and while Fire Emblem is fun, it doesn't quite scratch the same itch. So I'm making my own Tactical RPG called "Ballad of Thuria...

Re: Drawing Dialogue Box "tails"

Couldn't you just create a graphics with transparency in it? Like, a normal PNG? I don't think so in this case. The dialogue boxes aren't always the same size. The library I'm working on allows you to create them to be the size you need. The way I'm doing it now is to draw the background image eith...

Drawing Dialogue Box "tails"

I'm going to attempt to allow "tails" to be added to dialogue boxes, similar to the screenshot below. I have a pretty good idea of how to get this to work, except for one small aspect. My current idea is to require a tail graphic that will be drawn to blend in with the sides of the panel i...

Re: Möan.lua - A simple messagebox system.

This library looks really interesting. Do you remember the dialog boxes in Grandia 1? I really liked that game, because of the changing emotion images of the characters. I'm sure this can be archived by putting more Moan.speak calls with different images. Also, I'm a huge fan of this kind of dialog...
