Re: love.physics: mass vs weight
So weight is expressed in N's so to say someone weighs 100kg is incorrect. I know lay ppl don't care and English stuffs things up so I'm double checking. If my bathroom scales says 100kg is it really saying a) mass = 100kg or is it saying b) weight = 100 * 9.8 N's? The love.physics engine uses mass ...

love.physics: mass vs weight
I'm on a super learning curve with the physics engine and checking something. I want to model a person who is 100kg. Just checking if the bathroom scales is actually reporting mass (measured in kg as expected) of is the bathroom scales reporting weight (which is mass * force of gravity in N). I'm as...

That facepalm moment when ...
... I spent 2 hours trying to nut out my failed vector math only to discover I didn't convert to radians.

What is the best unit test framework for Love2D?
Google search shows:
- Lovetest - 2013
- Busted (seems to be not Love2d)
- Telescope (not Love2d)
- Cute (10 months old - which is pretty recent!)
And a half dozen forum threads with 'roll your own'.
Cute seems to be the most recent + most relevant so - is that the way to go?

Re: Noobie just discovered LOVE. Tips for a top down sports game?
Thanks.
Does anyone know how you have a body move around and react to applyforce but turn collisions off? I set isactive = false but then it wouldn't move. I'd like the body to retain its Newtonian movement b but to also pass through other bodies.

Just celebrating my game is functional. Not pretty, but functional.
In just over a week Love2d has allowed me to make a playable concept of a sports field full of bodies moving around and reacting via Newtonian physics.
Appreciate the tips. Onwards and upwards.

Re: How would you slightly extend the physics tutorial?
That's great. I find it odd that a real example on the whole internet found nothing.
Are tables of bodies such a rare and unique thing?
Anyway, your code has pointed me in the right direction. Thanks!

How would you slightly extend the physics tutorial?
In this tutorial: https://love2d.org/wiki/Tutorial:Physics https://love2d.org/wiki/Tutorial:Physics A ball is created and it bounce. Cool. Get it. Seems easy. How would I modify the code to have two balls in a table so I can spawn them in a FOR loop, update them in a FOR loop and DRAW them in a FOR ...

Re: Noobie just discovered LOVE. Tips for a top down sports game?
Thanks. I think I need to apply force to the AI and apply impulse to the puck.
I think at this point I need to stop reading and experiment. Thanks.

Re: Noobie just discovered LOVE. Tips for a top down sports game?
I'm quite comfortable with the math and vectors and angular velocities for determining who needs to move where. I already have four love.graphic.draw.circles chasing each other around the screen as an exercise. These are driven with a class I made up called 'hockeyplayer'. I guess i was asking if sh...
