I don't have any feedback as a dev, but as a player I generally enjoy unlocks if they add to the gameplay by adding new modes/levels/options/etc - especially if it challenges me to try something different or unusual that I may not have considered on my own. Looks like this would fit the bill for me!

I implemented an A* algorithm in a mostly-discontinued project here . You can see the source code etc by unzipping the .love file. Glad you got it working! ... I have no idea how to check if my graphics driver is up-to-date. What is your graphics card? If it's part of the motherboard, what's your motherboard?
