Re: Jumping?
Well, I seen your code, nice stuff you got there, but, it seems that your code is kind of messy, you might need to make separate luas for specific functions or code initialization saving your main.lua for important stuff. (That should not hamper you from making something though. I would suggest that...

Re: ENET Chatting
Your while loop depends on the 'done' boolean. You could just make a function that'll turn the 'done' boolean on again. (I'm no networking xpert, but for me, that's just logic.)

Re: Controlling the speed of everything by controlling dt?
It really did sparked some ideas, although the slow-mo mechanic in my game doesn't really resolve around the idea of time manipulation, just a way of showing particular moves (eg. dodging bullets). It should be an idea for another title (or a Nikki sequel), but for now, i'll stick to making things s...

Re: Controlling the speed of everything by controlling dt?
Okay then, I'll polish that mechanic for later. If it does work, I'll post a demo along with some code for others.
I really love the slow-mo mechanic of some games and this tidbit can be very useful (apparently I haven't seen like an indepth documentation about dt and how to use it or something ...)

Re: Controlling the speed of everything by controlling dt?
If that's the case, i would increase the dt of Queue if I wanted to speed her slightly during dodge, am I right?bartbes wrote:Yes it's possible, though you want to decrease dt, not increase it.
I'm really sorry if the thing's obvious, I should have known that.

Controlling the speed of everything by controlling dt?
As the name of the topic suggests, I'll put it in a situation: I made it such that when Queue runs, when player presses the jump button, Queue will dodgejump. While she dodgejumps, everything slows down like Max Payne. If the topic name would be true, i would just increase the DT of the main update ...

Re: QUEUE Engine ~ Platforming framework
QUEUE is now 0.5! I'm still working on it, but if you want a demo, see the initial post Note, there are some changes in 0.5: What changed: 0.5 - NEW: More (and very informative) commenting for beginners. NEW: damage system! (more formulaic) Fixed: Attack animation! (now you can see Nikki really punc...

Re: "Seeing" a player
I actually questioned that, I think*, but what Roland suggested can be used too.
Hope it helps (or something)
A little search can also help you.
(* The post has another method aside from what Roland has too, as well as what i used to implement as well.)

A cinematic-like action platformer - WIP
I know this is a little rash, I'm now getting busy with work among other things and I'm a little drained of this for a while, I want to say thank you for all you guys who have helped me in making me feel at home to this forums, but this is still not the end. I'm just going to be off the radar, but I...
