Vista problems?

Post by Hallvard »

It crashes on startup for me. I'm running Vista.

It's pretty weird. The first time it crashes, there is nothing inside the window (as in transparent). I also get up the "program isn't working" thing. Second time and onwards it just closes on startup. No warnings or anything.

I found out that if I delete stderr and stdout it will "start from the beginning" again and give me an error message the first time I run it.

stderr is empty.

stdout contains this:

"This is LOVE 0.3.1 (Space Meat).

INIT love.timer [SDL]
INIT love.filesystem [PhysFS]
INIT love.graphics [OpenGL/DevIL/FreeType]
INIT love.keyboard [SDL]
INIT love.mouse [SDL]
INIT love.audio [SDL_mixer]
INIT love.system [Generic]
Usage: love [FILE]

Examples:
love demo01.love
love /home/nyan/mygame"

Which seems to be in order.

Anyway, it looks ace, but you know, I can't really know yet.

Please help.

Love 0.3.2 is the most recent version. Try using that one.

Oh, sorry about that. Forgot to add that I tried all different versions and every one had this result. 0.3.1 was just the latest one :/

I'm on Vista, too. 64x even. I haven't had any problems at all yet.

This is going to sound crazy, but did you disable that thingy in your user profile that forces it to ask you for permission each and every application? I've been hearing that a lot of apps don't work correctly if you disable that. I wish I could be more specific, but I'm on Linux.

Sounds quite plausible to me, but sadly no. I've also tried running it as Administrator and in XP compatibility mode without differing results.

EDIT:

I'm on Vista 32.

Did you use the installers or did you download the zip file? I'd say if you used the installer, uninstall and reinstall running the installer in Administrator mode. If you downloaded the zip, then I'm all out of ideas, other than extracting it in Administrator mode.

Christ I feel like I'm trouble-shooting early Mac OS X here.

Trying both now (installer/zip).

Why does it remind you of Mac OSX?

Thanks for helping though. I wish the devs would see this though. Perhaps I should mail them.

EDIT:

Nope, exactly the same results. ;_;
