Metanet Hunter! (1.1 is out!)

Post by NightKawata »

IT'S OUT, EVERYONE! I HOPE YOU'LL ENJOY!

Metanet Hunter 1's been out for a while, and it was made in about 3 months.
The soundtrack's made by Ace, and the rest is made by yours truly.

Hey, this is nice! I absolutely love the gameboy style. Just one thing, on several levels it's very easy to fall out of the world on the left and right. It can be a little annoying.

Just add a classic bitbop sound track :neko:

I don't know the original but I this one is nice!
I liked the art style, and missed the audio.

Wow, I was pretty impressed. The levels are designed well, I love the graphics scheme, and it's fun!

The Pre-Release is out, and ready to rock!
You should leave some suggestions or post some feedback if you haven't already!
Any of that would be greatly appreciated!

Love the game, though I feel like I've wasted so much time working with AdvTiledLoader when I could've just used images to load/store maps

Nyce! Good to see LÖVE projects which are easy to pick up but relatively complete feeling.

Are you looking for original music?

Feedback:
  • I do agree with T-Bone that falling off the world by the sides of the levels can be annoying. And having to make precise jumps over spikes at the top row of a level is similar -- doesn't seem right to expect a player to make jumps they can't see.
  • Initiating player movement has a slightly sluggish feel (too much inertia), but it's mild. I might have his positive acceleration a little higher but keep negative acceleration how it is now.
  • Visually, it's very simple but that works for it. I like how some of the tiles -- the trampoline, the goal, the level "gate" icon up top -- look like alien symbols or crests or something. In my opinion, it clashes somewhat that the spikes have a shaded/dithered look whereas the other objects are more flat/contrasty.
  • Finally, I think a couple li'l 1-2 frame animations would spice things up. Maybe the player when he jumps and the shooting enemy when he shoots. Little things like that go a long way -- that's polish.
