Cartographer, New alpha!

Post by StoneCrow »

This is the mapmaker im working on, and although most of the code is there im reworking it in to use the A.W.O.L library.
All code and images belong to me unless stated otherwise.

This is the popup menu in program.

This version is not functional but shows parts of the UI.

These images don't show us a whole lot. I think you will get more positive response if you release a .love we can sample.

Okay ive added a test version,
this only shows off the ui using awol.lua
and im pretty sure the code is a bit all over the place, so really not worth a look
but theres alot of stuff floating around waiting to be put in and brought upto date from previous versions
Dull but sincere filler.

Hi StoneCrow,
I remember this from "What's you working". Could at least say for now what features you want to add? As Layers, custom data engine or Tiled support...

Well its going to be my personal program for map development, with an in program spritesheet creater with vanilla support for tiles, overlays and objects (aswell as possibly a way of running it to make animations too at a later date).
Also a mapmaker with native layer support (although fixed layers), tiles, overlays, objects and native support for a bunch of importing and exporting features like importing a smaller map into a larger one and stuff like that, the reason i keep saying native support is because the module system loads after everything else so its possible to overwrite any part of the program and add features that way :).

I plan to update it all once 0.8 is (as far as i know) officially released. Besides i have developed it for my own use primarily and atm i use 0.72.

ive made this myself as a learning experience and a tool, so from my perspective this is a program i can edit, add to and one that exports in exactly the format i need.

sorry about slow replies i have been away for a few days,
oh and im currently still working on the setup screens for new maps and spritesheets although i have most of the spritesheet and map editing code down from the earlier version.
Dull but sincere filler.

Added bits and bobs to the menus of this, almost done and ready to start working on the main features.
Meanwhile A.Tree has come along in leaps and bounds, here are some images to tease you all :3 .
