From around the houses actually!

It all started about a year ago when I started doing iphone development. Having four apps on the app store (all utilities) I then wanted to look at doing game development on the iPhone so was searching for what to use. I stayed with objective c for a while and found cocos2D. Then one day I stumbled across a framework called corona. That allows you to target both android and iPhone and uses Lua. 20+ years in software development (assembler, basic, clipper, Delphi) and I'd never even heard of Lua! So I bought the book, starting using corona and I'm on the Lua learning curve so was keen to see what else was out there using Lua.......and finally found Love2d!

I was a player and scripter on SA-MP, a multiplayer modification for GTA SA which uses Pawn. But later MTA SA, a much better multiplayer program for GTA SA was released and I switched to it. MTA SA uses Lua for scripting, so it became my favourite programming language. I like scripting on MTA SA, but I also wanted to be more independent, so I looked at the list of Lua libraries supporting graphics in lua-users.org wiki and found a few. I tried them and Love2d was the best :) It's the first game engine on which I managed to script a function for translating point from 3D world to 2D screen, so I'm gonna try making some 3D game. A few years ago I tried scripting such thing on Game Maker, but my programming skills were too crappy :)

I found out about it from Reddit in January 2009. Then I bookmarked it and didn't actually try it out until May 2009.
