I contacted the author a while back for use of his work in my splash screens.

He's a very nice fellow. While I was able to get permission to use it in my splash screens, but I don't think he wants to release it under a public license.

Maybe we could ask him for permission to use a snipped version freely as long as it appears in conjunction with a LÖVE logo and an attribution in the LÖVE license?
