Reading RPGMaker map files?

Post by napco »

Hello! My goal is to create an RPG game as compatible as possible with RPGMaker 2000 games. To do this i have to be capable of reading RPGMaker map files (.lmu) but i don't know where to start (I've searched everywhere on the internet)... Some spanish folk have already done it but with C, not Lua...

Do you know how they did it with C? Maybe all of the loops and functions they use could be put into Lua, with some long thinking though.

What license do they use? If you're free to see the source, linking/posting is probably okay as well.

You definitely should contact EasyRPG about this. They have an active IRC channel and they (at least partially) are able to load RPGMaker projects. (forum links)
lg.newImage("cat.png") -- made possible by lg = love.graphics
-- Don't force fullscreen (it frustrates those who want to try your game real quick) -- Develop for 1280x720 (so people can make HD videos)
