Re: Question about breakout - ball and paddle collison
Suck and see. :) You haven't explained what alternate trig/vector solutions you've considered but that sample code above seems to be fine. The ball coming off the ends of the bat will have a larger horizontal velocity. The arbitrary_constant should be set at 1 and then tweaked up or down to magnify ...

Re: Sprite speed
I would suggest making the jump from anim8 to rolling your own animation functions is not hard. If you're new to Lua or Love then keep doing what you're doing but consider learning about quads and tracking frames in your own table. You'll find stepping up to that level is not really hard and you'll ...

Re: Alternate Windows's save directory for love.filesystem
My ocd is equally triggered. This works on Windows. Not sure about other os. https://github.com/EngineerSmith/nativefs I test for the os the love file is using and if it is Windows then I save to my preferred location (not 'roaming') and if it's not Windows then use vanilla love.filesystem. I don't ...

Re: A question you can't answer: how to determine credits
How would you figure out payment before hand given everything is so subjective?
What would signal a "probably fair" arrangement?

Re: brickz - a highly addictive brick game
Nice one. Chaotic. I know it has a black and white theme but perhaps there are blocks I can hit that trigger the special effects instead of them happening randomly?
Nice work.
Nice work.

Re: A question you can't answer: how to determine credits
I guess for me, thinking about that a bit more, as a one-man-band, I do all the coding, the graphics and the audio. Audio is usually royalty free (with credits) from ppl like our own Eric Matyas. I can't do graphics so that is royalty free d/l's or AI generated. The coding is me of course. I found t...

A question you can't answer: how to determine credits
In my mind, every LOVE project that is reasonably mature has three components: a) creative designing and software coding/engineering (usually same person) b) audio (music and effects) b) visuals (graphics and images inc animations) Hypothetical, if you were had to put a percentage of work effort for...
