Re: Mr. Rescue - Beta, looking for testers!

Pretty slick, but I found picking up people to be fiddley, and throwing them out windows even more so - maybe make your man throw em a bit higher so you dont have to time a jump? Also, "press any key" only let me press enter :P EDIT: The heat bar isn't very noticable - unlike the bright bl...

Re: itch.io - indie game hosting!

I assume this would only work well for DRM-free games (which I guess applies to most Indie games), somewhat like Humble Indie Bundle does? I can imagine it would get horribly complicated to try putting support for DRM in. Also, something's wack with your facebook button thing next to the G+ on Chrom...

Re: What is your opinion about the next formulas?

I doubt many people here would have much experience in the maths behind hard-core rpgs - the best sources would be to look up the mechanics behind popular ones that work well. After that, you have to test the game with real players, and tweak the settings to the levels that work the best. The 1.6 fa...

Re: Burst Particles?

I may be misunderstanding this, but why can't you just set up your system, set an alarm for 1 frame, and set the emission rate to 0 after that?

Re: New guy, performance question

I've found GameMaker has some features that aren't in Löve yet - eg advanced drawing functions such as mapping textures to triangles - and sometimes you look for a function that should exist but doesnt yet. (the lack of texture mapping I find rather hampers making exceptionally "pretty" ga...

Re: I want to talk about unicorns.

In polyamory circles, "Unicorn" is a euphemism for female bisexuals that are willing to enter into a relationship with an existing heterosexual couple. Finding one without a crippling heroin addiction is as difficult as finding a unicorn, hence the name. Well... Why not making a game cont...

Re: LÖVEFEST IIII: Return of the Revenge of the Fest

Works submitted need not be full-fledged games; prototypes, toys, and experiments are very much welcome. Maybe this should be more of a rule than a suggestion, to force people to not worry about intricate menu/scoring/stability systems - or even explicitly say "no scoring / menus" and &qu...

I only know the answer to (6) - it's called Damping, somewhere under here: http://www.box2d.org/manual.html#_Toc258082973

[Solved in IRC] Damping in love.physics / Box2D

In a prototype I'm making, a space rock is constructed of 3 bodies (fixed to square shapes of density 1) in a row, each welded (using a weld joint) to the one next to it (ie 2 weld joints in total for the 3 bodies). The 'space rock' is set spinning around the middle body's centre by applying a force...
