as far I as can understand it, löve doesn't support network yet. Not that I need it right now, but is it planned for the future?

rude has teased us saying that he might include LuaSocket in future LÖVE releases. I've never used it, but it looks just fine to me.

True. The plan is to distribute LuaSocket unmodified with LOVE.
